Your eComm clients can now add manual (offline) payment methods to their store's checkout, to accept payments outside the site online while offering store customers many more ways to pay for their purchases. This means accepting payments in cash, checks, bank transfers, and payments by phone, among others.
Aside from providing store customers with more flexibility and confidence, manual payment methods can be a better option for some businesses that need them.
An example can be service providers like law firms, landscapers, spas, etc., that get paid after the job or service has been performed, or when large orders or B2B transactions are made. Another benefit of manual payments is the cost saved on transaction fees and commissions incurred by digital payment gateways.
Here are just some of the payment types the new manual payment method supports:
And many others, too!
This new manual payment method is a good option for getting paid in cash in-store or by phone, and a way for the business to drive more physical traffic into the store. And it perfectly complements the store’s pickup option, for a complete seamless purchasing experience, easily updated in the store’s Orders section.
Setting up your store’s manual or offline payments is easy - you’ll see it as an option on the main Accepting Payments (formerly Payments) screen in your store’s dashboard. Simply give it a name, add the payment instructions you’d like to show customers once they receive an order confirmation email, and save.
How will this work for customers? They'll have it as an option at checkout, and will be notified via email when their order is placed, and once again when it’s marked as paid.
Since these payment methods are set up manually, it’s up to you - the site admin or your eComm client to confirm the payment before marking the order as paid in the store’s management dashboard.
